Cocoa Butter features in a lot of my products. This butter is the cream coloured fat extracted from the cacao seed, or bean. It has been used for hundreds of years to moisturise and protect the skin. When applied topically it creates a barrier between the skin and the environment and helps the skin retain valuable moisture levels. It also contains cocoa mass polyphenol (CMP), a substance that inhibits the production of the immuno globulin IgE which is known to aggravate symptoms of dermatitis. (I know putting cocoa butter on my eczema helped it dramatically).
The cocoa butter I use is Certified Organic as well as Fair Trade meaning that the people who grew, harvested and made the cocoa butter were treated fairly, paid a decent wage and were not exploited in any way. Also, when you buy Fair Trade products you know that no children were exploited to make the product.
Cocoa Butter melts on skin contact and is readily absorbed. Fantastic for dry/damaged skin. I have added this amazing ingredient to my Body Creme, Antioxidant Rich Face Cream and the Honey And Peppermint Lip Balm to moisturise and nourish the skin.
