My Elephant

Written and illustrated by Petr Horacek

Feeling lonely and a bit bored, a little boy needs someone to play with… why not an elephant? An elephant can play football, go fishing and be the largest & most fun companion on a jungle adventure; he is also handy when it comes to taking the blame for anything from a trampled flowerbed to an accident with a vase. And do the adults believe him? You’ll need to read the book to find out!

With illustrations that complement and capture the imagination along with the clever text, this book is currently one of my daughter’s favourites.

Forget Me Not

Written and illustrated by Michael Broad

The first in a series about a sweet young elephant… Monty (nicknamed Forget Me Not) the elephant is given two things to remember… to stay with the herd and that his mama loves him. But when he sees something bright and blue, he forgets and goes off to investigate. Will he find his mama again before the rains come?

A beautifully written and illustrated book. Keep an eye out for the industrious dung beetles on every page and enjoy the colourful animal characters Monty finds on his journey to be reunited with his mama and the rest of his herd.

We haven’t read the others in this series of books yet but we intend to.
