In The Garden – Spring Has Sprung!

Spring has definitely arrived with a splash of colour and the heady scent of drifting blossom falling snow-like, helping to bring a sense of magic to the Margaret River Organic Gardens.

Recently I headed to the garden with a close friend and our three young girls to enjoy some of the magic. All three girls dressed up and blended perfectly with their surroundings, literally skipping down paths with their baskets before picnicking together around the mushroom ring, having a play in the natural playground set up by the Wishing Star Playgroup, going on a fairy treasure hunt (fortunately my friend Nat can understand “fairy”!) and listening to a story on a very special pink garden chair – just gorgeous, we all had such fun!

New Vegetable Garden

The regular volunteer gardeners are currently in the process of designing, building and planting out new vegetable beds, along with installing new water tanks. A follow up article will show their progress. It will provide a lovely addition to the gardens and another valuable resource that the community can access and enjoy regularly.

ForeverGREEN – An Organic AfFAIR

Saturday October 30, 9.30am – 4pm at the Margaret River Organic Gardens, Bussell Hwy, Margaret River

ForeverGREEN – An Organic AfFAIR is a family day primarily being held as a fundraiser for the Organic Gardens and also a great opportunity to showcase some of the wonderful organic products & services within the Margaret River & surrounding regions (including Fishica!) It’s free and will be fun; with activities including a gnome/fairy hunt through the gardens, a mystical garden creature dress up (think fairies, gnomes, dragons, elves and unicorns), face painting, story readings, puppet shows & more…

If you are interested in finding out more please email rae@fishica.com.au or phone 08 9758 8007.

**There is a dedicated page for this event that can be found by clicking this link.

Like to be involved in the Margaret River Organic Gardens?

A regular number of volunteers garden each Wednesday afternoon, stopping for tea and cake under the old jacaranda tree. If you would like to join in, have some fun and enjoy great company in beautiful surroundings why not consider becoming a volunteer yourself? Feel free to just turn up from 12.30pm onwards on any Wednesday afternoon (you’ll be greeted with some very warm smiles!) Alternatively please contact Jillian Taylor on 9758 7932 or Felicity Haynes on 9757 4014. You can also make a much welcomed donation towards helping with the gardens upkeep and ongoing maintenance of Mannsfield House. Donations of money, plants, garden ornaments or seats which would be suitable for incorporation into the garden will all be gratefully received.

Until next time – happy gardening!
